Vehicle Description

Up for auction is an extremely rare Eckler’s CR II Corvette. It is the first in the series of approximately fifteen CR II Corvettes built and sold by Eckler’s in a full key configuration. It is one of two ordered by Robert E. Petersen (Petersen Publishing Company) in 1978. The Corvette was revealed at the 1978 Detroit Autorama and is also said to have been present at the Cleveland Autorama. John Siroonian, famed car collector and founder/owner of Western Wheels Inc. (and Western Chrome), purchased the car soon after from Petersen Publishing Company. Although Petersen and Siroonian have passed on, their legacies, influence and love of the automobile will live on.

This CR II has appeared in several car magazines throughout the years. Most notably on the cover of the 1979 Hot Rod Magazine Chevrolet Special issue, a brief article in the December 2008 issue of Hot Rod Magazine and was recently on the cover and the featured Corvette in the July 2009 issue of Corvette Enthusiast (can be viewed online in the "archive" section @ http://www.amosautomotive.com/default.aspx?pub_code=KPCV. Also a multiple car show award winner including the "Best Of The 70's Car" at the inaugural George Barris Car Show and most recently the Car Of The Show at the City of Diamond Bar Festival. Some unique features of the Corvette are the Can Am race style body, remote hatchback, Monza gas cap, "moon roofs", three tail lights, side exhaust covers, sport mirrors and Western Wheels.

Comfort features include air conditioning, power windows and door locks, remote controlled mirrors, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, deluxe interior, lighted vanity mirror, AM/FM stereo radio, shoulder safety belts and Recaro seats.

Carpet, mufflers and Y-pipe, A/C compressor and POA valve have been replaced. Drive train is an unrestored stock L48-automatic. Original BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires mounted on the original Western Wheels. Paint is original lacquer and in very good condition. Body, interior and drive train are all original and in near excellent condition. Total mileage is @ 30,800 original miles. Garaged and covered and well maintained by current owner for last 19 years.
