1969 tilt Custom
This is a custom vehicle that was hand built in the 1990 time frame, driven for one year and parked. I picked it up two years ago, got it running and have been driving it on weekends. The body is aftermarket late model C-3 (from’74 on), the front end tilts or with the removal of 2 pins can be removed, only the center section is original. This car was stripped down to a bare frame which was sand blasted and coated. It has a new wiring harness and switches, competition brakes and suspension components and a light weight body.
Immediately after the restoration it won several trophies for best in show. Performance wise it was built to be competitive in the Road America circuit but never raced. The engine is a built and dyno’d 355 cubic inch 4 bolt with aluminum heads that produces 430 H.P. @ 6500 RPM. It now has 5,000 miles on the total frame off restoration; the only signs of rust are on the exhaust. It has 12 to 1 compression and is currently set up to run on racing fuel, av gas or a pump gas blend with either, the mixture doesn’t have to be precise. To get it to run on pump gas alone the timing should be retarded.
The paint is in great shape with a few very small chips out, barely noticeable. There is plenty of chrome under the hood and even some of the rear suspension components. The T-tops are aftermarket tinted glass and have storage envelopes for each. It has a minor oil leak that appears to be coming from the front of the engine, maybe the timing chain cover. The wipers interfere with the hood and need different arms to be functional. A replacement ignition switch is provided for the current one that works, but needs attention.
