You are bidding on a frame on restored 1978 Chevrolet
Corvette. "GRACEFUL KATE"
I am the third owner in this cars 30 year history.
I have owned it since 1992. The car was sold in a
small southern Illinois town. Spent a few years
in Oklahoma, but the majority of its life was spent in
Arizona, Texas and the past 6 years in South Carolina.
I restored the car (in 18 months) and had it back on the
road in 1999. Since then it has been driven approx
15K miles on the all original, numbers matching, drive
train. Engine(350 Cu. In. L-48), Transmission (350
Turbo), Rear end (3:08), Heads, everything.
PhotoMontage shows an anthology of the restoration that I
did. I would have done a frame off, but ran out of
room in my house. All components were completely stripped,
and repainted. Engine, Transmission and Rear End
were rebuilt. All three drive shafts were trued,
rebalance and fitted with greasable u-joints, The rear
trailing arms were rebuilt by Van Steele, The
quadrajet Carburetor was rebuilt to show quality
by Carburetor Works in NY. All replacement
parts were either GM NOS parts (tail lights, bezels,
etc) or were GM authorized reproductions. The body
was media blasted down to the original primer. The
suspension is 100% original except for the Uerathane
bushing that are mounted on the sway bars as well as the
Adjusable Rod ends in the rear suspension. All
suspension shims and bolts in the rear are stainless
steel. This is a virgin body. The paint is a
single stage PPG Urethane Epoxy Enamel. No clear
coat. The final topcoat was color sanded with
1500 grit paper and then polished. Its a mirror
finish and the photos reflect this. Everything was
rebuilt even if it worked correctly at the time. New
interior by Al Knock. Interior was
"upgraded" with additional insulation on the
firewall, and the entire passenger compartment. The
radio (original sticker had the radio delete option) is a
Kenwood AM-FM cassette, with a 6 disc CD changer in
the rear compartment. Radio is special made for the
C3 corvette. All brake lines and Brake
components are stainless steel. This car has won
several local and regional car shows from Texas to South
Carolina. These include Best of Show 2000 Houston
Corvette Chevy Expo, Drivers Choice 2000 Austin Corvette
day, Peoples Choice 2002 Coastal Carolina Street Thunder.
It has appeared in the October 2000 issue of Vette
Magazine. This is not a trailer queen. She has
two small stars in the windshield both were inflicted
while driving to a car show. She made the 2000 mile
journey to the Corvette Museum for the 5th anniversary
special in 1999. This car comes with the car cover
shown in the photos and two hoods. The custom hood
was airbrushed by Von Otto of Lorena TX insured
value $3000. Also included with this car is a second
set of stock aluminum wheels and tires, along with all of
the original equipment that is restored, but not on the
car, (intake manifold, AM/FM 8 Track, Valve Covers, and
the Aircleaner assy for the stock hood). All
documentation goes with the car as well, this includes the
orginal and reproduced Tank Build Sheet, as well as
reproduciton Window Sticker, owners manual, wheel
information, Catalytic Converter decal, Documentation
Manual and others. I have
enjoyed her for the past 8 years and now hope to find a
new home for her. I reserve the right to sell this
vehicle to the highest bidder in the event that
reserve is not met.
